Building Virtual Worlds
Building Virtual Worlds is a semester long course at the Entertainment Technology Center, Carnegie Mellon University. It’s all about communication and teamwork by creating five worlds in a team of five on a two week rotation. It includes collaborative contribution with collective ideation. What I learnt from the course was how to iterate within a quick time frame and deliver the desired output in a very short span of time. I worked on game mechanics, workflow, story, title, storyboard, user interface, 2D and 3D art assets for the games.
These projects taught me rapid prototyping, designing gameplay and game mechanics, sticking on to the theme, designing a strong storyline, conducting playtests to study guest experience and behavior and analyzing the project from a naive guest point of view.
